This piece was composed as an electroacoustic 'study' whilst attending the COMA Summer School last summer. I set myself the objective to create a miniature which still conveyed a clear journey of exploration through its sound material. The material used is heavily processed and abstractly sculpted to produce a work which has mutating, interwoven lines of texture constantly disappearing and re-emerging. There are frequent references throughout to a rhythmic, beating motif which finally reveals itself towards the end of the work. The title refers to the fact that the piece is a study of sorts and uses sharp, frequently metallic objects (metal sheets and knifes) as sound material and drives towards a climax, a 'point', at the end of the piece.
